To be honest, I was actually pretty hyped about this film, as I was kind-of into the animation and I enjoyed “Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated” on TV when I was younger. Once I saw this film, it actually felt like, whether for better or worse, it belonged on a television (but a good one). And overall? I kind-of liked it.
Watched it with some of my family members and overall laughed quite a bit. I guess it definitely could have been better, was very predictable, but overall it played it safe which it didn’t really have to do. I liked the numerous call-backs to previous Hannah-Barbera shows but it also feels like it’ll get dated pretty quick with all of it’s references, some of which kind of surprised me (RBG if example). I kind of liked that it was somewhat self-aware, but again, it could have been a lot better. Also, no spoilers, but the ending was pretty disappointing, although right beforehand it did get a little emotional.
